ANDYLASER
Hi. Does anyone know of a supplier of decent quality Ethernet leads suitable for event use (including outdoors). Ideally something with a rubber insulation and well fitted metal (Neutrik) connectors. I would prefer to buy ready made if possible. I have been using cheap ones, but they are crap to deal with and dont lay flat. They are cheap enough to be disposable after a few shows though.Thanks. electronicsuk
Van Damme TourCat or Klotz cat5-flex. I think Canford also sell something of their own. The first two should definitely be available in pre-terminated lengths.
James Remo
Look at tmb’s proplex, best be sitting down when looking at prices though
ontoprigger
We have used Datatuff with ether-con connectors with our automation systems, usually very robust, we terminate our own and make to length, but you may fine some already made.https://catalog.beld...t=pd&p=PF_7940Ahttps://www.neutrik....s/data/ethercon These guys have the cables made up, don't know which type of connection they use probably standard RJ45http://www.scatts.co...c=BELDEN+UK+LTD Cable monkey have cat 5 & cat 6 external rated cables that might be more economically viable than the DataTuff product, have not used them but might work for you, I just googled 'industrial network cable' and 'outdoor Ethernet cable' to find them, as we will be looking for something similar soon.https://www.cablemon...atch-leads.htmlhttps://www.cablemon...#/57-length-30m you could buy and retrofit your own ether-con connectors if not supplied with them
bruce
The datatuff and cable monkey ones are using solid core cable, so it's not really aimed at any market where the cable is to be re-used. it won't coil well or lay flat, and will be more prone to cores breaking than stranded. These "external cat5" cables are intended for semi-permanent installation - things like CCTV cameras etc - the main difference between them and normal cables is that the external PVC jacket is more UV-resistant.
