MagicQ - odd fader behaviour just on one

Stupid question time again.

One of the faders has something simple in the single cue stack - a two movers at a static position in a colour and gobo. Programmed the same as all the others. Raising the fader brings them up, lowering the fader does not dim them out - they stay on. Release kills them. Copying this to the fader next door produces normal operation - fader brings it up, fader dims it out. When it's active and the lights are up, you cannot remove it, as it is active. Looking at the status with the usual 3 taps, with a working one next to the troublesome one produces what seems to be an identical set of yes/no filled boxes. I can't find anything in the menus that is different between the good and troublesome faders. Somewhere is a parameter that is making this fader behave like this, and I n' find it!

Any clues? Bound to be something stupid I have done. If it helps, recording a dimmer intensity into this fader works normally - it's just fixtures with a number of htp and ltp attributes.

It's a Maxi wing on a PC, and the fader behaving oddly is the second one. Copying or moving the cuestack to another restores normal operation. If I flip between the 2nd and 3rd fader with the same stack on it, none of the parameters I can see are different.

Just did the usual things - in this case just moving two movers to a point, adjusting the colour and beam and recording it to fader 2. A few minutes later, I shoved the fader, it faded up, but wouldn't dim out? To get it to go off needed a release. The release parameters on that playback are release on the fader - but the actual dimming out doesn't happen? Very strange.

Yep - shut Magicq down and restarted and restarted the entire system, and fader 2 just won't play ball - I solved it for the show by putting an htp only cue on that fader, but it's just strange. I wondered if maybe the fader was not full travel, so the release on off didn't happen - but the dimmer function should have at least dimmed if that was the case. I suspect that it's something set in a bizarre location as my friend who used it for the last show has a habit of changing colours, display styles and other stuff - and I put them back to how I like it, but there could be something somewhere set that I have probably never seen?

run the test mode just to check the fader itself is functioning properly and the same as its neighbours.

if you put a different ltp cue on that fader, say a colour value for a different rgb fixture, does that behave as expected? maybe try it with and without the fader set to ltp fades.

I did try some different fixtures on that fader and they needed to be released too - Test mode - I'll give that a shot later in the week and report back - cheers for the assistance. P

No worries, with the number of optional settings on fixtures and consoles these days let alone physical issues; fault finding and sorting errant behaviors can be a real pain.

If your on a maxi wing have you only been trying the physical fader or have you tried the onscreen one too? If the virtual fader behaves the same then it is likely a setting somewhere and if it doesn't it would suggest a fault on the physical fader. (Bit of an odd physical fault if htp dims OK on it)

If none of that helps maybe try a new show file (after saving obviously!) and see if that has the same issue.

I'm curious to hear what the culprit turns out to be.
