sleah
As the title says. It's regarding studio monitor positioning.Written as though the reader lacks some basic understanding of sound. So what are they doing worrying about critical monitor placement if they think the woofer (big speaker as they call it) pointing at your ears is best?? :o :** laughs out loud **: Have a gander: Thomann Blog
sandall
I'm having more trouble working out what they are trying to say in the paragraph on Eq.
Simon Lewis
"Loudspeakers can project a tons of sonic pressure" 20Pa (pretty much the threshold of pain) is about 0.002 tons per square metre... I think you might be slightly overstating their capability there. Or using hyperbole. "The sweet spot lies between the two speakers (woofer and tweeter) and that’s the reference you need for a correct placement. " One would hope so. Then again, not every manufacturer gets it right. Best to start looking here.... I think their take on EQ is do not try and eq the monitor. Use it as a tool to judge the spectral balance of the source material and eq that if that does not sound right.
Shez
That's not quite how I read it. Maybe something lost in translation from German? Most of the time people wrongly assume that the big speaker (low frequencies) should point to your ears: wrong! The sweet spot lies between the two speakers (woofer and tweeter) and that’s the reference you need for a correct placement.
