kgallen Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I'm in need of about 10 Schurter C16A IEC inlets (155 degreeC) to repair some Strand Preludes. As we discussed a while ago, the only viable source seems to be RS and they will only ship with a MOQ of 50. http://uk.rs-online....ectors/8702596/ As there was some interest a while back in the inlets (as well as the in-line socket for the cable), is any established BR member in the UK interested in taking a share of the order with me - I can't use 50! The RS site says they are not available until late November. They'd work out about £2 each. Alternatively if anyone knows of another source where they're not £8 each then I'd be interested to know! (Digikey is similar to RS but quoting December, also MOQ 50). My other option is to use the 120 degreeC "hot" which is much more readily available but I'd rather not. Thanks,Kevin
Barreller Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I'll take 10 and 10 in line sockets (Desperate for those!!)Is this the socket? http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/iec-connectors/8677403/
kgallen Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 Hi Barreller, That is the socket, but I wasn't intending to buy any of those, sorry (all of my leads are intact). Kevin
Stuart91 Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Plus it looks like RS will only sell them to you in minimum batches of 50, which pushes the total spend up somewhat...
adam2 Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Might be worth trying fleabay, I purchased some very similar ones recently and they seemed ok.
Barreller Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Plus it looks like RS will only sell them to you in minimum batches of 50, which pushes the total spend up somewhat... Isn't that what Kevin said?
kgallen Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 For the right-angle females to go on the lead, this thread has good suggestions: http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=4843To order http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/iec-connectors/8677403/ from RS, with their MOQ of 50, the outlay is some £280, so the suggestions in the above thread for other brands/sources are useful. I don't need any of the female C15A in-line connectors. I'm currently only after the male inlet to fit in the body of the lantern. The RS MOQ of 50 is about a £90 outlay. I hope this clarifies what I'm looking into! Regards,Kevin
TomHoward Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Three more leads that don't seem to have minimum order quantities, but appear to have stock,(I haven't checked shipping costs / min order values etc) http://eu.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Schurter/61203300/?qs=wwP%252bWDYHj0bg9VE3ieMOhg== https://www.distrelec.de/en/appliance-inlet-c16a-screw-mounting-schurter-6120-3300/p/14358746 https://www.buerklin.com/en/heavy-current-panel-mount-plug/p/41f281
Superpants Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Mouser look like they have them in stock at not much more with no need to buy 50 off. Can't remember what their Minimum order value/ shipping is, but I don't recall it being too bad. https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/Schurter/61203300/?qs=%2fha2pyFadug3iY2XNktt6Yt7gLkcihsjamGM5DFGlbo%3d
kgallen Posted September 30, 2017 Author Posted September 30, 2017 Mouser delivery is £12 and the Distrelec is E10.50. Hmmm food for thought - thanks for looking those up, guys, appreciated. So 10 from Mouser work out at £2.78 each so not a disaster. Probably makes sense to order 20 and split it with Barreller! That would make them £2.18 each which is not too bad at all. However if I order 22 then I get free shipping... Now, looks like using one of those German suppliers could work too, because their shipping is less than Mouser's and even considering parity on GBP and EUR some interesting numbers come out... Plus they sell the right-angle socket that Barreller is after. Mouser don't seem to stock that part http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif Barreller - what says I get 20 in from somewhere and I get a set of 10 over to you? I could get you the 10 females at the same time if you want. Should probably do this on PM to save airing laundry on the Forum!
alistermorton Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Try cct - they list them as spares.
kgallen Posted October 1, 2017 Author Posted October 1, 2017 Thanks Alister. From CCT they are £6+vat+del so quite expensive compared to the options from Tom.
alistermorton Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 True. For a one off its worth knowing though. That said I'll discuss with our team whether we'd be interested in joining the order.
kgallen Posted October 1, 2017 Author Posted October 1, 2017 Hi all, Thanks for all the interest and help. I'm going to place an order with Burklin as they can supply the inlets, females and the strain reliefs at a decent price even including shipping to the UK from Germany, and they have immediate availability. So I won't be doing the RS order after all. Good result, thanks BR team! If anyone is desperate for a one-off I will have a couple of parts spare when it arrives, so we could work something out locally. Regards,Kevin
Bigape Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Just in case you hacen't placed the order yet, but have you considered Rapid - a quick search gave me the following page which seems to cover what you're after. No accounts needed, but they do charge delivery for orders under £30 (I think) https://www.rapidonline.com/c14-inlet
