raymond.faccini
We are a small theatre group and have recently purchased a fame SM-80a fold back speaker. Can anybody please tell us the BEST way to connect this to a Cerwin-Vega 1224Mixer, we have Connected it but I don't think we are getting the best from it. I look forward to and thank you for your advise
Shez
In what way do you think you're not getting the best from it?Conventional wisdom would suggest just connecting it to the aux out of the mixer. If that's not working well enough for you, it might be useful to detail your requirements more precisely so we can suggest more appropriate solutions. kgallen
http://www.cerwinveg...BManualREVC.pdf Page 21, top right "Monitor Speakers" - in your case you have one powered speaker, so connect from the "AUX (SEND)" output with a jack lead. Your mixer has a prefade/postfade switch on each channel for this Aux output. If you are using the foldback speaker to provide backing music for the talent then you probably want to use "post". If you have some stage microphones and are using the speaker back stage as a show relay, then you probably want this switch at "pre" on the microphone channels. "Postfade" means the output is dependent on the position of the channel fader. "Prefade" means the output does not depend on the channel fader, so for example your stage microphones will still output from your foldback speaker backstage even if their channel faders are down at 0. In both cases, the Aux pot on the channel strip sets the maximum relative contribution of that channel to the Aux output. See manual page 6, items (5) and (6). There is an overall Aux level pot, see manual page 8 and 9 item (14).
