Faulty ACT6

Hi, got a faulty ACT6 Dimmer pack (the model with the faders on the right). Some of the channels have no control and are on full no matter what position the faders are in! Already managed to fix some issues with the remaining channels.

Think the issues are control related on the main board, so need a schematic. Does anyone still have one they could send me please? I know these dimmers are getting on a bit now, so hoping the schematic are still available?

Also, it lools like someone has been at this one with a soldering iron in the past, as there appear to be mods carried out on the mainboard :-(

Thanks

Channels stuck full on are very likely blown triacs - I'd start there but have lots of patience at hand because the method Strand used for securing the triacs on the ACT 6 was "different". From memory, the triacs are the same spec as in BetaPack Mk 1's and 2's so should be relatively easy to source.

many thanks guys for the advice and schematic! I have another pack which is ACT6+, so can cross check with this one.

If you need parts I have a pile of act6 in various states of disrepair.....

thanks - I will let you know how I get on. Some spares may be required?!

Early black version strand act 6 - control module on right hand side, approx 5 inches square with 4 screws

The control pcb whether fader type, d54 or other - connect in the same way

The control pcb connects to the main pcb via a header/ pin arrangement, this often has dry joint issues, try reseating it.

I also have some retrofit DMX input pcbs which I would be happy to give away to a blueroom member, with 5pin xlr in and out, DMX address thumbwheels, screw/ plug straight to the the boards. Pm me if you would like one
