raymond.faccini
we have a small n73hh box mixer that we use when we don't need a full mixing desk we have had this for about 5/6 years and have found it to be very good but whilst using it on a job at the weekend it started cutting out after about half an hourwe tried several things e.g changing the extension lead to no avail, it appears it could be due to overheating. Can anybody suggest what the cause is and a possible way of curing it .We look forward to a reply and thank anybody in advance who can help
GR1
If you are referring to the £79.99 Maplin mixer amp unless someone comes up with an obvious fix for pennies which I doubt you should buy a new one and not waste good money after bad fixing this one. 5+ years of use is pretty good for a bit of kit at that price. Yorkie
Unfortunately I'd tend to agree... 5 years service from one of these 'toy' powered mixers is par for the course; no paid person would ever fix one as by the time you've opened it up it will have cost almost as much as a new one. Volunteers however...
Brian
Have you tried it since? Maybe it was warmer that night than usual? Maybe something nearby was heating up the area? Maybe you didn't have a good airflow over the heatsink? Maybe one of your input signal has an ultrasonic oscillation on it? It might be worth opening it up and having a look for anything obvious. You could take some photos and post them here for people to take a look.
Malcolm Gordon
A post a couple of years ago about this amp type referred to a noisy fan. Is the fan still working? Have the vents been cleaned in the past 5 years? When you open it up you may find dust everywhere.
Jivemaster
Hot gig, airpath dusty inside, fan airflow impaired or zero, possibly will cause the permanent demise of kit. Check the fan(s). If it's not simple to repair replace it it's cheaper than a full diagnosis.
