TomT Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Just looking for some advice on which of these speakers would best suit a Live Band ( Guitar, Keys/bass, drums and vocals).Playing mostly country music. We do mostly concert in community centres, church halls, playing to 200/500 people. I'm looking for something that will carry to the back of the hall, but will not be too loud at the front. I have two 18 subs driven by a QSC 3500 watt amp and hope to be able to use those for the larger venues and just use the 12 tops on their own for the smaller venues. The two speakers that I've been looking at are the EV ETX 12 and the Martin Audio XD 12 .I have only heard the EV and was very impressed how it sounded. I'm also open to suggestions of other speakers that would fit the bill.
dickiefunk Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I've heard great reports about the Martin speakers you've mentioned. I've also heard great things about the RCF 745a mk4 speakers. There's an updated version of the RCF745a coming out at the end of the year called the NX45A which will have wooden cabinets and modified drivers. I'm very keen to hear this speaker myself!
smalljoshua Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Hi Tom, I've heard and have sold both of those units. I'd suggest the Yamaha DSR range too which are also excellent and in a similar price bracket. I'm sure a Yamaha dealer local to you can offer a demo of these. Thanks, Josh

I work for a company that owns xd12's and xd15's but I much prefer to use these http://www.soundgear.co.uk/A dual concentric horn loaded 8 & 1inch with a 12 on a folded horn in one very light box. To my ears the will eat an XD12 alive and are a fraction of the cost

I'd second Josh's suggestion of the Yamaha DSR series, but there are so many decent products in the category.
