TomHoward Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Does anyone know a manufacturer please for a 1 or 2 gang HDBaseT UK wall plate, we have a venue with CAT5 between projector & laptop position, we're hoping to neaten it up by replacing with a HDMI in wall plate which converts to BaseT within the plate. Can find a few american size plates but nothing UK at the moment. There's a couple of Cat5 sockets at the moment it could directly replace.
TomHoward Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 Aha - I've found the Kramer WP-580TXR which is in a UK size.
mac.calder Posted August 2, 2017 Posted August 2, 2017 Just as a "For the record" - Atlona have their -UK models of the HDVS 150 and 200 wallplates.
TomHoward Posted August 3, 2017 Author Posted August 3, 2017 That's clever - with the VGA in, does that have a scan convertor then and runs out the same HDBaseT? Might be worth us putting that in instead.
david.elsbury Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Yes- the Atlona plates are excellent, scaling and EDID management too ?
TomHoward Posted August 3, 2017 Author Posted August 3, 2017 Thanks for that - with the Athlona plate being POE powered, is that usually provided by the receiver? It would be useful not to have to add power into the transmitter as well. This isn't primarily my area, I'm trying to add a HDMI wall plate where a Cat6 socket currently is, as HDMI/VGA has been missed off the spec of a new build. (Well, it was on the spec...) I'm meaning powered by the receiver as opposed to being injected with a standard networking PoE injector - are there many simpler receivers than the Athlona recommended box that would work?
mac.calder Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Correct. If you buy a PoE supplying reciever then it will power the transmitter. Alternatively there are mid-span PoE injectors designed specifically for baseT gear (not sure if there is a difference between the various networking PoE standards and baseT standards so I have always bought a poe injector made for the kit). HdBaseT also had PoC before they went PoE. As a general rule PoE sockets are coloured blue because when you plug PoC gear into PoE or vice versa and the magic smoke tends to escape.
