iPad lighting control - artnet

Afternoon all,

We have a few gigs (open mic nights / small acoustic gigs / similar) where we use iPad control for the PA, with a digital stagebox.

I'm looking at a similar solution for lighting if possible, likely not run off the same iPad (possibly two ops or at least two pads to keep them dedicated).

Let's say a rig might contain 6x LED uplighters, 4 conventionals, and maybe something moving on occasion.

What I'd like to be able to do is basically set a colour, or maybe a colour chase, maybe a tempo (or have enough presets I can set fast/slow colour), and be able to make it stop and calm down between songs.

It could be pre-programmed for the most part but it would be nice to busk a bit as needed.

I've looked at some things and found Luminar so far, is this worth checking out or are there many other options?

We've got art-net nodes (this would probably be one node and one universe) so art-net out might be the easiest.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, you can also use the StageLight App https://stagelight.a...ink/lg7AFQrpqF.

You can try the App 14 days for free.

In the interest of full transparency it's worth noting that Marko appears to be the creator of StageLight: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/stagelight/id1118851633

In fairness to him his name IS featured in the URL he posted but was truncated out of existence via URL shortening.

No idea if the app is any cop or not, but I figured the transparency was warranted. I did have a quick little play with it and it's not wholly dissimilar to Luminair albeit somewhat more basic though I can't speak to reliability etc. I suspect it's a case of you get what you pay for at the end of the day (as most things are!)

Thanks for the clarify and transparency ;-)

I am always happy about feedback.

I think it depends from the use case. Luminair has a lot of really fantastic features - unfortunately :,(

but is more expensive.
