singingfish Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Greetings all.Soundtech have diagnosed my SI Expression 2 as needing a new processor board at the cost of a kidney including labour. Does anyone know a supplier who could supply such a part please? Not a lot I can find on goole for this.
sandall Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 If you want to fit it yourself why not give Soundcraft a ring?
singingfish Posted June 30, 2017 Author Posted June 30, 2017 yeah...I've left the whole mixer with Soundcrafts UK people (sole distributors and repairers, as far as I can find); Sound Tech. They can supply the board and fit it for the best part of a grand. I already owe them for the diagnosis which is fine but I'm looking to save some money if I can of course :-). They want £300 labour on top of the price of the processor board.
sandall Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 That sounds a hell of a lot for labour, even for Sound Tech :(. Soundcraft's own service dept at Potters Bar used to be quite helpful. I wonder whether they would just sell you the PCB (if you're feeling brave enough to fit it yourself). Might also be worth calling AC or Stage Electrics, to see whether it's something they could tackle.
Stuart91 Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 I wonder if it'd be possible to buy a "donor" mixer, maybe one that's taken a drink and wiped out the fader banks, for instance?

This one I'm getting fixed is one that falls in to that catagory.I'm hopeful that when all is repaired and ship-shape, we'll look at it as a bargain.wish me luck. Yeah. the labour charge is pretty fruity. It looks like Sound Tech have Soundcraft repairs and spares all sewn up in the UK as far as I can see. At least for recent/current models. The guy who booked the desk in a couple of weeks ago said they have one of the original tech guys from Potters Bar doing the work on these boards. I hope he gets his diagnoses right. :-pI was dismissed on the phone pretty rapidly when I queried if there were any particular things which could make processor boards fail in these boards which left me a bit naffed. I do deal with Stage Electric and have found them to be really helpful before. I'll give them a ring on Monday. thanks for the suggestion.
