alabamaman Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Hi all,In an auditorium we have mounted a Morpheus projector, cabled with anche optical fiber ending directly with HDMI connectors, so without visibile trasmitter and receiver.the source is a Pretty old PC with Windows 10 on. When mounted all worked for a week, then happened that at the start of the PC the external screen wasn't recognized, and we had to uncable and recable Hdmi. After that the Image had become smaller, and it had moved of the upper right angle of the projection area. Shifting lens could bring the Image to the center of the screen, but still we cannot make it as big as the effective projection area is. The projector has a control software that allows to project test patterns, which have the right resolution, but then, with any video software, every video or Image projected has the problem I told you. The projector is a Morpheus by Digital projection, and the software is called why-I control. Ideas?
david.elsbury Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 What resolution and refresh rate are you sending? Have you tried a different computer?
timsabre Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 This unfortunately is classic Windows 10 behaviour, it really likes to mess around with your monitor outputs usually when things are powered up in a different order. As David says check the resolution that Windows 10 thinks it should be sending (right click on blank area of desktop)
Joe Fernand Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 As above this can be a pretty common problem. Once you line up the Projector you then want to try and 'pixel map' the Source PC to the Projector. Where re-powering the Source is causing an issue you may want to try introducing a device such as the HDFury Dr HDM which can be set with a single EDID mode and try to force the Source to always come back on in the mode you want. alabamaman Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 Oh Yes, I forgot ti say that Windows was Reading a 1024x768 screen, while it is 1280x720. So I went in the Nvidia control panel and set the right resolution. The problem is that the Image projected is smaller than the projection area
david.elsbury Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 If that's the case it sounds like windows is still not sending the correct resolution out. Despite the nvidia settings. Desktop or laptop? Have you tried a different computer?
alabamaman Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 other people told me that they tried to connect other laptops (we use a laptop too), and they coul'd recognize any external monitor at all, so they always had to use the resident one.nvidia drivers are up do date.
timsabre Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 If other computers cannot recognise the projector it sounds like a problem with the optical fibre link - the projector should send back an EDID message saying what it is and what its default resolution is. This is what Windows uses to set itself to the right output settings. Can you access the projector directly to plug a test HDMI cable into it? Or is it inaccessible?
Joe Fernand Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Just had a look at the User Manual for the projector - pretty limited Input options 720p at 48Hz, 50Hz and 60Hz! I'd imagine a lot of the content folk will want to show will look pretty ropey at 720p. Have you tried connecting the Laptop to it with a regular HDMI/DVI-D cable and seeing if it is more reliable than the Optical cable? If the regular cable is more reliable I'd try the EDID manager ahead of the Optical cable. Joe
