Dmx512
Hi Anyone out there know how easy (or difficult) it is to replace the cable in a manfrotto wind up stand ?
peza2010
Im not sure id be comfortable diy'ing that. Surely at the point that someone other than manfrotto has replaced it the SWL no longer holds much truth?
AndyJones
I tried it once a while a go- I seem to remember it being pretty faffy! I had an exploded diagram which I got from the website.
xllx
It's doable, but is a bit fiddly.
Andyb
With the right tools it is doable. We have a set of special draw rods that we (Enlightened) think are essential to doing the job. Good luck, or get in touch if you want a quote to do it for you.Andrew
Jivemaster
Have you bought a genuine Manfrotto spare part cable, Do you know why the cable failed? Do you know if any other part has failed when the cable failed. If you have sourced a genuine spare part, what did the supplier say about DIY replacement of the failed part? chrisdwalker2002
You'll definitely need to buy the cable from manfrotto to do this yourself. From what I can remember they come with the tensioning screw pre crimped on the wire. In either case they should always receive a LOLER inspection every 12 months or after repair. If you're interested in getting it repaired and tested, please feel free to get in touch for a price.Cheers.
ianl
If you have 4 hands, a 13ft long work bench, an arm span to match, a fairly practical /engineering mind, and are not easily frustrated, or likely to throw toys out of prams, then yes its an easy diy job.If you lack any of the above its easy to create a pile of scrap metal
