Big Jay
Thanks all I plan to ensure the gel string is always parked at the 1st position i.e. clear. I can ask my cash strapped council to provide a 13A output powered by the dimmer panel isolators to ensure the fans always run but I can guess the answer to that one. I can also ask permission to do the work myself but that will get a big fat NO. Nobody has answered my question about protecting the scrolls with Rosco Heatshield before the scroller unit. Reading comments on other sites this is proposed as a solution. What think you. But how will they power on when you are using then in an event? If someone has been shown how to turn the desk and or dimmers on, surely just show them where the power is for the scrollers and if they are patched and homes, all good, they don't need to do anything else??? gareth
Heatshield can help, but it isn't an answer in itself. Even with fans running at full, darker colours can sometimes suffer badly in a scroll in front of a particularly hot lantern (or a fresnel that's flooded right out - that's something else to consider if you're putting your scrollers onto fresnels or PCs). Heatshield can go some small way to helping with this problem, but it's not the miracle solution that people sometimes assume it to be.
TomHoward
If they aren't homed on white, won't it be a problem if someone is expecting a white light, and gets a deep colour? Do the lanterns need to be used by other users in white, without the scrollers necessarily being turned on, or is it just the risk that the lanterns might be, and the scrollers need protecting in case?
