J Pearce
I have a stock of Selecon Acclaims at work, the version before the all integrated square front, that use a bent metal sprung clip to retain the colour frame and barndoor (similar to ETC S4s). However, most of mine have lost this bent clip and therefore pose a considerable safety risk if used with colour and barndoors. I can put the barndoors on safety bonds but I'm loath to do the same for the colour frames as it makes everything so much harder on colour call. I've drawn a bit of a blank in getting spare retaining clips, most my suppliers not being able to get hold of them. Has anyone had any luck? indyld
Awful things. Surely those clips are so pony that you could make some using a similar type wire and a few bending tools - or at least get some made. There are barely more than a bent paper clip. J Pearce
I've had a quick go, with not a huge amount of success. We don't really have the right bits in stock to attempt making them up, and if I'm spending money on it I'd rather spend money that I know will fix it. david.elsbury
I had some units repaired down here late last year and they managed to find me a couple so they must be out there somewhere? :)
vinntec
Stating the obvious, have you tried the nearest Selecon dealer? Probably Lancelyn (as was) in Oxford is your nearest Tel: 01865 722 468? No harm in asking.
J Pearce
I hadn't thought of Lancelyn, so will get in touch with them tomorrow. Thanks for the nod.
jonathanhill
I have bought them from AC before. I will try and remember to look for an order code tomorrow. Likewise, I had to buy about 46 for the 47 Acclaims we have. This was after the advent of the Acclaim 2, so they are out there.
dbuckley
The Selecon website (the original, New Zealand Selecon website!) used to have exploded parts diagrams with spare parts references for all of their kit, and although the Wayback machine has the website (old acclaims), the zip files containing the diagrams which should be linked from here were not saved :(
J Pearce
I have found the part number (ACCSPR010 - seems to be the same between profiles and fresnels (and PCs?)), it was more a question of whether anyone had actually managed to procure them from anyone. I shall enquire with AC and Lancelyn/Northern today, thanks for those leads.
sandall
One of our mechanically-minded volunteers got hold of some spring wire & a pair of pliers & replaced the lot.

Don Allen
I have put the old Acclaim exploded files and manuals in this dropbox folder Acclaim so you can keep a copy for your personal use.
J Pearce
Thanks all, I've now got a couple of quotes in, and a couple more people to ask. I have to work within a university finance framework, so some companies are easier to order from than others.
