p.k.roberts Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Another approach might be to look at a 'DJ' type mixer. There seem to be a fair few around with a couple of mic inputs, a couple of line inputs and unless you are going to go for the SQN/Sound Devices option, probably one of the few types of small mixer that have PFL as well. No idea what voltage the typical wall wart is for one of these, but might be worth a bit of research (and probably easier to 'hack' than doing a scratch build). If the output is unbalanced, an ART Cleanbox or an Orchid dual transformer box will sort that out. This would probably be a better solution than a DI box - I can never really see the point of attenuating a line level signal and then boosting it again, plus a 'passive' solution is one less thing to go wrong. As to what the PA contractor will expect; how long is a piece of string? I've worked on lots of firework shows with everything from full on very pro pa setups to 'disco dave' and a couple of plastic boxes - just carry a slack handful of adapters :-)
TomHoward Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Interesting the Aux outs are unbalanced though in the spec. I'll have a look at one tomorrow if I remember
Chris Beesley Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Its a real wild card... but I have just noticed my Denon MC6000 is 12V DC in... has two mic inputs, PFL and will run four analogue line inputs. While its mainly a USB controller for Traktor etc it will run as a straight analogue DJ mixer.
