sam.henderson Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Hi all, I am overseeing Sound for a show and I am looking for a company who are good to work with and are reasonably priced to look after the whole thing in the south-west of England (Bristol in particular) or a company willing to travel to do the job. The show is a Musical Variety performance with lots of different styles/ genres of songs and some sketches and acting pieces in between. The show runs for just under 1 week (6 shows- 5 of which are evenings and 1 mat.) in a large proscenium arch venue (capacity aprox 1'500). I would need: Get in and Get Out technicians and riggers for sound equipment, a Sound engineer for the whole run of the show, all equipment including 10 radio mics, the desk, speakers and amplifiers, micing for the 9 piece band, a few sound effects here and there (so probably 2 mini-disk players), digital reverb/ multi effects processor, monitors for the band and a few onstage for cast, a monitor for DSM in prompt position and all cabling, multi's etc. So who are the good, the bad and the ugly!! Please PM if possible suggestions to save the blue-room from being done for libel! (I don't know whether the admins mind you posting good comments about companies here, maybe one of them will post and say- until then all answers kindly received by PM!) Many Thanks, Sam
kalmatthew Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 A :P Local search throws up a number of answers. Cant speak for their skill though.
Mr.Si Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 over in that direction, I'd go with Sound Foundation who're based in Reading, which I think is some where near where you are. Anyway, I reckon they're rather good as a company, competent and have more than you'd need. Give them a phone call - Mark Payne and Tom Jeffery from the company post on here, so send them a PM or something. or go to Sound Foundation online
Calder Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Scan PA (Reading I think), have only heard good things about them.
Hammymj Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Hiya, Audio Forum based in Bristol are reliable and should have all of the kit you mentioned. Give them a call on 0870 240 6444 or have a look at their website Cheers Martin
Pete McCrea Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 You could try Us (Cheltenham Stage Services- who I work for). We're based in Cheltenham, about 40 mins from Bristol. We'd be interested in having a chat with you if you want.

I have worked with them on the Soul Survivor festivals and that was really well done. They also handle most of our sound requirements at Soul Survivor Watford
