Mamboking50 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Hello,I'm new here and I'm a Party,Wedding and Hotel DJ. My last Party I had my 2 PHS 200 Heads connected on my Enttec Open Interface, suddenly I had a short cicuit. My DMX Interface was not working anymore, also I lost one USB Port on my Laptop. Now after a week I'm checking the Phs 200 and I can't connect to the DMX .I tried with differnt other Controllers and it does not detect the Signal. Is there a way to repair it? Eurolite Scancontroler,JB-Scancontrol 1612 Any Help?:(
Shez Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 It's not unusual for the RS485 receiver IC inside a fixture to sacrifice itself if there are unpleasant voltages on the DMX line. If you have access to an oscilloscope, you can check whether there is any signal coming out of that IC. Beyond that, it'll vary depending on the fixture in question. I've had to swap out a few of those chips - they're generally standard parts and if you're lucky, they'll be in a socket. If you're really unlucky, they'll be SMD.
Don Allen Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I know how hard it is to justify expensive DMX interfaces, however the ENTTEC USB DMX Pro, while being four times the price of an open interface, has opto isolated usb lines to protect your laptop or pc from high voltages on the DMX lines and it has an internal microcontroller so it sends out a constant DMX stream, independent of your laptop or pc. You could consider an upgrade for a more reliable show ?

Yes you're right but I'm really happy with myJB-Scancontroler 1612 ,wit a USB Interface its Djing and light controlling with a Mouse to difficould. My Problem is What to do with my 2 Movingheads.
Brian Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 My Problem is What to do with my 2 Movingheads. Mend them, or if you don't have the skills, get someone else to mend them.
Don Allen Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 If you have the electronic skills you need to get a service manual to find out what DMX interface integrated circuit is used and also what input circuit protection is used as some of those components may be faulty. You may have to pay for the service manual download if you cannot get one for free. If the ic is a DIP, it is easiest to cut the leads off, desolder them one at a time, fit a DIP socket, then plug in a new ic. If it is a surface mount or smd package you will have to do research on how to do this. If in doubt have it repaired at a service centre because if you damage the circuit board and it is a multi layer circuit board, you may not get it going. I looked up the JB-Scancontroler 1612 and it does not have a USB port ?

Thank you Don Allen, your post is very helpfu. No my Scancontroler is a old version but ,no USB but is a very good Piece ( No professional Light shows)'ll try to get in touch with the factoryl .Maybe I can make a foto from the circuit Board ?
Brian Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Every Futurelight unit I've seen uses a SN75176 as the DMX receiver chip: it's an 8-pin device. It will be the only chip with that part number on the PCB. The part number might have extra letters at the end. You can confirm it is the DMX receiver because its pins 6 and 7 will connect to the DMX XLR sockets's pins 2 and 3. Usually pin 6 on the 8-pin IC connects to pin 3 on the XLR, pin 7 on the IC to pin 2 on the XLRs.
DrV Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I just did a search for PHS 200 futurelight and it came up with this picture which conveniently shows the 75176 in the bottom right hand corner, just above the capacitor which says "SMD" on the side. And good news - it is on a socket! In fact there are a couple of pictures on this page which show the chip. I think the one in the pictures has a few more problems than yours! I also see from a couple of schematics that Futurelight don't seem to put any additional protection on the DMX lines so the chances are that all you will need to do is replace the chip.HTHDave Edit to add - on the third picture you can even read the part number!
Tow Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Edit to add - on the third picture you can even read the part number! Looks like mouse damage... They think I am made here when I give out about not have blanks on the empty expansion slots in the PCs etc.
Mamboking50 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Hey Guys, I'm really happy that so many People tryng to help http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif Maybe have a Friend who has got the skills, but he don't understand english. So I can't find the DMX Piece what is maybe defect,so I shoot 2 Pictures can you indicade wher are the chips please? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/d3cxv605j6bsx5h/AAD-byfDlRGUqjsszfKzal1Ta?dl=0 Thank you
Brian Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 What numbers are written on the top of this chip...
DrV Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 That's the 75176. It's the same as in the pictures I linked to. Dave
Mamboking50 Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 Ok I made some other Pictures one where the XLR comes in and the other you can see the Number on the Chip That's the 75176. It's the same as in the pictures I linked to. Dave Sorry forgot the link new Pictures https://www.dropbox.com/sh/d3cxv605j6bsx5h/AAD-byfDlRGUqjsszfKzal1Ta?dl=0
