DMX Trouble

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your replies - much appreciated. Unfortunately I'm not really any the wiser! In the light of all said, it seems that my 6-channel DMX controller http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_ddc6_dmx_controller.htm is only good for controlling red, blue, and green light intensity, and practically useless for anything else? I would like to know do you all think if I bought the 12-channel controller here that my problems would be solved??

Thanks

Josiah

Well - yes it would. Although I have to say I'm not a fan of what this looks like. In your system, even with the 12 channel control, all the lights do the same thing. being g able to have some on read, and some on blue - or some strobing and others doing something else looks so much better. You also have the problem that to go form nice effect one to nice effect two takes many fader changes and sometime quite precise settings, and a manual control is a pain in the bum for speed and repeatability. Cheap LED lights give the owners so many options, the manual controls simply cannot do. If you want to stay with real knobs, the cost can be high, but if you could live with using a computer, then so much more can be done for modest cost if you have the computer already - even an old one would do.
