paulears Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 The Publican's Morning Advertiser recently reported that a nightclub owner in Wales has been ordered to pay almost £18,000 to PPL, or face a prison sentence for playing music without a licence. This ruling demonstrates that a court treats copyright infringement and breach of its injunction order very seriously. PPL only takes enforcement action as a last resort and will always give businesses a reasonable opportunity to obtain a licence before doing so. However, if a business persists in playing recorded music without complying with its legal requirement to obtain a licence, it will face legal action and possibly significant financial and other serious consequences.
