ETC ION Remote Control

Recommended Posts

I've just moved to a new ETC ION from a Zero88 Frog 2.

The one thing I liked about the Frog was that it had a remote IP control function built in. All I had to do was attach it to a router and control it from a laptop as a backup.

All I need is a basic things such as running cues, does anyone know if the ION has any remote software available?

Yes.

ETC Eos desks will run from any iPhone, iPad or Android phones or devices.

Search for the app on your chosen store...

iRFR for Apple stuff,

aRFR for Android.

And yes - a very basic £25 wifi router and you're in business.

http://www.etcconnect.com/Products/Consoles/Eos-Family/Accessories/iRFR-and-iRFR-Preview/Features.aspx

tells you about the iRFR but the Android is pretty much the same thing

ETC have their remote for android and I phone. £25 I believe, and fees go to light relief.

There is also a "real" remote, 2 versions I believe, both have their ups and downs, but they do cost quite a substantial amount.

Sorry I'm confused. Am I reading your post right that the app costs 25 quid??

There are 4/5 options of controlling an EOS family desk remotely,

  1. Via the IOS/Android app, there are two versions, proceeds go to charity
  2. Via a Nomad Mirror, free
  3. Via a Nomad Client, requires a dongle
  4. Via Ascii IP String commands
  5. Soon via Open Sound Control (OSC)

Regards,

J

The physical remote is about $2000, so $50 is quite a steal....

It is worth re-iterating that the cost of the app goes to charity, rather than ETC.

Via a Nomad Mirror, free

Are you sure about that? It doesn't work that way with our ETC Element. I've been told that we would need a dongle to control our desk via a laptop.

You're correct to query that. Mirror mode is a very simple way to get remote displays at, say, a production desk - but it doesn't offer any remote control functionality. For that, you need a client dongle.
