birt
when traveling by plane, would you put HQI (or other high pressure light bulbs) in carry-on or in checked in luggage? does it even matter?thinking about temperature, pressure, handling... maeterlinck
Check with your airline, but simple answer would be generally you can't take glass through security.
Stuart91
It might be less hassle to just buy the bulbs you need at your destination?
Modge
...assuming sticking them on the truck isn't an option?
Jivemaster
I suspect that your airline will say something if you ask them, likely hold baggage or not flyable. I suspect that the lamps have travelled by air before BUT in large quantities the special packaging is available (that may not be available to you). Impact Pete
as a lamp distributor we were lead to believe that for instance Philips msd250 lamps have to be specially sent if by air (maybe that's due to large quantiites of high pressure lamps in one go?) I'm pretty sure royal mail has something about it too, we just avoid sending them overseas but then again a lot of royal mail post is sent by air these days like up to Scotland etc Best to contact airline so you don't have the hassle when you arrive to check luggage in

Shez
How are the fixtures that the lamps are used in being transported? Can't you just send the lamps the same way?
