JDLX
What are you being offered for the £1000 out of interest?
JCC1996
£1000 in one quote gets us: *A truss as described in the original question*Lift stands to build it and ladders to rig it*12 x RGBAW pars*DMX and power distro.
JDLX
The truss is clearly eating into the budget a bit here, and it's probably not worth having for just 12 led pars. Perhaps you could do it with some scaff to save money and get a few more fixtures?
JCC1996
This is possibly opening a whole new can of worms, but is scaffolding an acceptable alternative? We have contacts with a local scaffolding firm (construction) who would probably be willing to help us out if possible.
timsabre
4 wind up stands with T-bars would probably be a better bet, unless the venue is massively high. 2 out in front for face lighting and 2 at the sides of the stage for colour wash.
Paul TC
4 wind up stands with T-bars would probably be a better bet, unless the venue is massively high. Are there any exposed RSJ's in the hall ? Might be worth looking at Girder Clamps (subject to usual assessment processes & access considerations)?
JCC1996
No exposed RSJ's unfortunately. Just a plain, solid ceiling!
dosxuk
Would tank traps be an option for the wings if you're only using LED Pars?
JCC1996
Tank traps could be a solution, but I think that the idea of using scaffold to create a similar structure to the truss would be worth looking into. I imagine that scaffolding would be much cheaper than truss and there is no requirement for the structure to be aesthetically pleasing as it is fully hidden behind the prosc. arch.
