Elvcon cable

Hi everyone.

I've just given away a couple of old chaser light boxes that have been taking up space in my garage. The problem is that I've lost the Elvcon 7 pin lead that joins the 2 of them together. I could do with tracking down another one, as my chances of finding the original with the state my garage is currently in are nil.

I'm not a big believer in giving things away that are broken or incomplete, especially as the lad I gave these to isn't particularly old, so I don't want him fiddling trying to "fix" them himself.

I've tried the usual suspects but they're all either sold out or "enquire about stock" - which I've done only to be told that they're out of stock and no longer produced! There are one or 2 people out there still selling them, but they're all in excess of £20 for even a 1m lead (which is what I need) - I'm only buying it to give away so really don't want to be spending that much if I can help it.

I can buy the connectors and make one up, but I just wondered if anybody had any bright ideas or sources that I hadn't considered?

Yeah that's the one. Discontinued with Blue Aran sadly!

Looking like making my own is going to be the cheapest bet I think.

That's exactly what I need, at a far more sensible price. Again though it looks to be out of stock - all the other products on their site have an "add to cart" button, but not for this one. Starting to see why they're £29 plus elsewhere - they're the only places that have them!

Well I looked and I have indeed got not one but TWO plugs. Sadly no sockets though. PM me if you want one Cedd.

Now, 7 pin widow-maker anyone?

Thanks everyone! I've sourced connectors now and think I'm resigned to making my own. Looks like this type of cable is on its' way out. You watch, I'll make up a new one and then find the one I've lost!!!!

Just a heads-up when you buy 7-core cable. Lots of place sell 'trailer' cable for this application but it's often not mains rated.

The trailer cable tends to be 0.5mm too. Not that we're talking massive current, but I've gone for the proper stuff that's 0.75mm.
