dashroom66
Ok, I bought a couple used mac 250+s used - but one of them turned out to be a 250 (not plus) I can send it back, but would prefer not to, as the guy didn't know, and it is a bit of a faff to get it shipped back without a flight case. I know you can convert a 250 to a 250+, and I have all the spare modules to do it, but I don't know about the mainboard. I have neither a spare nor an uploader. If anybody has done the upgrade, do you know what happens on the software side - do you just need to set a jumper, or do you need to change the firmware. Thanks in advance,George
dashroom66
Nevermind - Just found it, 'twas me being thick For future reference they both share the same software, and you just change a gobo indexing setting in the personality menu. gyro_gearloose
You'll also need the extra Hall sensor for gobo rotation, and the gobo wheel that has magnets on each gobo. For bonus points the colour wheel ought to be replaced with one that allows you to change individual flags if you want to, although the orginal wheel is also fine. Also the lenses are different for some reason. On the plus you are restricted to one beam angle, but on the original 250 there are 4 different options. As for the menu option to change gobo modes, I wish I'd found that before I went and bought myself an MP2 uploader :D I've still got the MP2, so if anyone needs to update/reprogram any Martin fixtures you may be able to borrow it for a fee/security deposit. dashroom66
Just swapped out the entire module - had one with a faulty mainboard and sacked it for parts (removed the entire head) since mainboards are very difficult to find for less than the price of used units. Making whats left of it into a moving camera.
