Bose Panaray Controller mk I

Recommended Posts

My Bose Panaray Controller (the black kind...mark I) is rebooting when the input exceeds approximately -12dB.

At lower input levels it works fine but if I increase the output from my mixing desk, it causes the controller to reboot.

Can anybody suggest a possible cause?

Also, is it possible to do a factory reset...and if so, how? (Just on the off chance that it might resolve the problem)

I suspect it might have been caused by a short circuit on one of the output leads to the power amps....

If I run volumes high enough to light the red LED, it doesn't reboot when the outputs are disconnected from the power amps...

I have one of these with a faulty output channel. Bose will not support or repair these units so I have given up and now use an amp with Dsp (Lab Gruppen IPD2400) which I have programmed with 802 parameters. Works well and more compact.

You would nt happen to have those parameters to hand would you ?

I have two pairs of 802s and only one 802c.... would be handy to use one of my dsps as an alternative for smaller jobs... have you got the mk3 or mk2 ?

You would nt happen to have those parameters to hand would you ?

I have response curves for 402 & 802 Mk.2, which tie in closely with measured figures, if anyone can tell me how to insert a jpeg from desktop into a post. (or if anyone cleverer than me wants to PM me with their email address I can send it as an attachment)

Hi I think u have to upload it to an image sharing site and then insert a link to the image on your post ?? Never done it but I think that's way to do it

These are the parameters I use. I got them off the web somewhere. They work Ok with my Mk3's and Mk2's.

LPF; But 24, 17.6kHz

HPF; But 48, 47Hz

EQ1; +9dB, 3.85kHz, 12dB/Oct, High Shelving

EQ2; -5dB, 3.39kHz, Q=1, Parametric

EQ3; -3.5dB, 620Hz, Q=1.1, Parametric

EQ4; +1.3dB, 7.32kHz, Q=3.5, Parametric

EQ5; -2dB, 1.98kHz, Q=3.2, Parametric

EQ6; 12dB, 111Hz, 12dB/Oct, Low Shelving - Full-range only

These may work better (on either MkII or MkIII as the curves on both are very similar):

Band 1 2 3 4 5 6

Freq 63 708 1410 1950 5010 12600

Gain dB +7.4 -8.0 +2.3 -3.8 -1.6 +7.1

BW 1.100 2.200 1.400 0.800 2.500 1.250

All Parametric EQ

Band Pass Low BW(18) 50

Band Pass High BW(24) 20000

Hope that's clear....the site seems to have deleted spaces....

Band 1 is 63hz; gain is +7.4dB and bandwidth is 1.100

Band 2 is 708hz; gain is -8.0dB and bandwidth is 2.200

etc etc
