taylord Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Hi all, Has anyone ever used the Proel HCM23 Beige Headset? If so, are they worth it for a headset on a tight budget?
sameness Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 They do as a headmic on a tight budget. Used them extensively on exhibition/small seminars and they are fine.
soundspider Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Yes, I use them quite a lot for church applications. Pretty good, not the sturdiest thing in the world (but which headsets are?), sound fine, and have a couple of different connectors which is handy. As an alternative I've just discovered micronic.co.uk, which have a huge range of different connectors, including one with a 6.35mm jack for line 6 xd-v35's which I have used a fair few of. The stageline ones by cpc are also pretty good - think they're available at about £17 + vat, which is very cheap for budget applications. Hope that helps, Alan
cedd Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I've used those Proel's a lot. For the money they're fine, though the strain reliefs in the connectors are poor. Definitely benefit from the plugs being chopped off and reterminate in better connectors with liberal doses of heatshrink. That said, I use 4 pin mini xlr's which are a bit easier to do than locking jacks if that's what you need. A friend who runs sennheiser beltpacks started using them for a while but found the failure rate of the cables was just too high so he moved back to CPC's. Also the cables have a habit of turning green when exposed to sweat. Not instantly, but it tends to be the thing I retire my headsets for first after a year or so.
taylord Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Thanks for the advice guys! I've just ordered 4 so they will do the job by the sounds of it!
