Ynot Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Not that I've used the company lately, but I have a couple of Strand 300 desks to sell so was looking around to gauge what the current going rate would be and had a gander over at www.usedlighting.co.uk to see if they had any on offer there that might give me a starting point. They don't other than a single fader panel on the list, but then a colleague said that he'd heard they had gone into liquidation or ceased trading for other reasons. A quick search on the companies house web site for what I believe is the parent company, Lighting Partners Ltd, confirms that they are indeed showing as in liquidation. Yet another colleague says that he's still getting regular e-mails from them on sales items and offers... I gather there was also a Facebook page but that seems to have disappeared Does anyone have any info on whether the company is viable or not at this time?
danburns Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Is your colleague getting e-mails from the US used lighting site? I know someone here who does - although he doesn't know why!
alistermorton Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Used Lighting Ltd aren't showing as liquidated, though. Wonder if there's some reorganisation going on.
Tom Lovick Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I've been getting the Used Lighting UK Sales pages as well recently. After a bit a look online with companies house it shows that the company 'Used Lighting' is Dormant & 'Lighting Partners' has been in Liquidation since July last year. Both companies did have the same director until April last year when Used lighting changed ownership to D. Morgan whereas Lighting Partners still owned by I. Dennis. All seems a bit dodgy....
handyandi Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Been getting emails from them all this last week as they have a daily sales/offer thing going on. They have changed since the original days as there used to be a stagelighting.co.uk website which sold new stuff, (which seems to have gone) & also they have a new dramakits.co.uk page (coming up as the same address). I have to say I have not used them for a number of years.
jono1 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I asked them about this recently while talking to them. They have reshuffled a little, they are selling the used kit and have a drama kits website but they are not doing the new sales any longer. We purchased some bits which arrived so they are still an entity. Only open Monday-Thursday though.
david.elsbury Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 What was the legal trading name of the company who you are dealing with?
inthe128 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I bought a desk from them 3 weeks ago and a friend bought a couple more of them 2 weeks ago
Ynot Posted March 13, 2015 Author Posted March 13, 2015 I bought a desk from them 3 weeks ago and a friend bought a couple more of them 2 weeks agoAnd your experience was...?
inthe128 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 First I rang, just answer phone, left a message, no one called back. I was on tour and emailed them on my return, got a reply to that within minutes, ask a few questions via email about its condition, in my case this was a Hog 2 wing and its only purpose was to sit with my Hog 2 that I have in my office, so how it looked was important, they took some photos and emailed them back straight away, I bought it and it was shipped with tracking to an address the UK, no delays arrived when promised, I was very happy with the whole experience, likewise for my friend who bought two Hog 2 wings.
Nicktaylor Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 As far as I know Ian and Peter were the partners in the business anyway. If they have decided to spilt into two then nothing fishy about that. I have bought kit from them, maybe not for the last six months but I know others who have.
stevep Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Bought some gear a month ago without any issues - it all went very smoothly. They did send a whole stream of sales emails my way a couple of weeks ago so still appear to be trading. That said I've not seen much in the way of new stock appearing on their site lately but that doesn't mean too much I guess.
Jimbob181 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I've used them quite a lot over the last five years, with great success [have also spent loadsadosh with them too] but, this year it all seems to have gone a bit pear shaped :( E-mails not replied to, Pro Forma requests ignored too.........which is a shame. Still been able to buy stuff directly through E-Bay, and I still get update e-mails.........so........any further info would be great :)

Have to say, I've found them poor for this for a long while - often takes two or three emails to get a response, and they simply don't respond at all to quite a lot of my offers of stuff to sell. If they don't want it, fine, just say so, then I can stop worrying about it and follow some other route...
