Dave m Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 having chucked out loads of edit suite rs422 cables in the past , I have now bought an old edit controller for a tenner hoping to connect it to a hyper deck. I don't have any cables and they seem hard to find unless at extortionate prices. any good sources? (bearing in mind that I don't know if the kit will work)
ceecrb1 Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 Make one? They are very easy to soulder.http://www.bb-elec.com/Images/4wire_rs422_fig1.aspx
Brian Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Make one? They are very easy to soulder.http://www.bb-elec.com/Images/4wire_rs422_fig1.aspx IIRC, that's not the right wiring. If the OP is talking about 'sony' 9-pin cables it's more like this... http://www.hardwarebook.info/Sony_9-pin_cable ...although I seem to remember that in genuine sony cables there were a couple of extra cores connected.
Dave m Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 thanks but making would be a last resort. the cost of the cable and plugs used to be ten times the cost of pre made leads.
david.elsbury Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Really? Isn't it just d9 connectors and a bit of cable? It sounds like you just need a short cable, a metre or two? I'd just use a scrap of cat 5. Or get the d9 to rj45 adaptors. :)
Dave m Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 ideally I'd like about 3 meters, if the thing works, but I only spent £6.50 on the controller. As it's a test, I want to spend as little as possible. you used to be able to buy the ( overseas made?) leads for peanuts but they have sort of gone out of use, so are harder to find and possibly more expensive
sleepytom Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I've brought rs422 cables on eBay for less than £4 in the last couple of years.
Dave m Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 I picked up one second hand for a tenner inc postage that's about 3 m longConnected to a £6.50 edit controller from ebay it works as I intended
