Bryson
SO, I'm looking at a plan to convert my theatre across to LED sources over the next few years. I'm starting at the back and working forwards, so I'm currently looking at replacements for my backlight par wash. I need a real smooth dimming curve (especially down at the low end.) Good saturated colour brightness. Not too worried about the quality of the white light as I won't usually run them in white. So far, the shortlist is:ETC Desire D60Elation Opti Quad ParETC Colorsource Par (Very new!) What else should I be looking at? Seems like everyone and their dog churn out an LED Par these days, but which ones are good when budget isn't your only criterion?
Adam L F
I'd take a look at COLORado 2-Quad Zoom Tour, pretty good fixture for the price of them, RGBW with 11 to 40 (ish) degree zoom. Perhaps not exactly what you're after but for a budget fixture, I was very impressed. http://www.blue-room.org.uk/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif
top-cat
Lanta LED Pars are very decent too. Decent for a price - Prolight are about to bring out their new eLumen8 Hex (RGBWAUV) PARs and if they are anything like the quad LED movers I had from them, should be pretty good. the kid
Does it have to be par? we used some of the ETC selador to great effect. The one thing I am aware of that ETC do and possibly not many other makers (unless the bigger names) is the colour matching between batches, IIR each unit gets evaluated and saved to the unit for what the output is. So one batch the green is just green LED, in the other the green is a touch different so it automatically tweeks in some blue to correct its self. mac500
I've just used the D60's and they are brilliant. Naturally very narrow so will need to use some of the special filters to make the beam wider if you got a playing height below 8m.
musht
ChromaQ in general and the new One thing looks promising.
James Bawn
Good morning I would indeed recommend the new Chroma-Q Color ONE 100 fixture, it will certainly meet all your requirements....especially on the dimming. It has a fully homogenised beam too! My link I will happily arrange a couple of demo units for you if you wish to try on site? Just let me know... Many thanks James
Bryson
Thanks James, but I'm a few thousand miles away from High Wycombe... Delivery might be an issue. ;) Chroma-Q are a Canadian company, though, so I'm sure I can find a local supplier.

Bryson
Thanks James and James, email sent. Also a contender that someone pointed me at today: Martin Rush RGBW Par 2: http://www.martin.com/en-US/Product-Details/RUSH-PAR-2-RGBW-Zoom Anyone come across these yet? J Pearce
I had some of those Rush units from Stage Electrics recently. Very bright, useful zoom range, and good colour mixing. I was using them too close up to make any judgement on beam quality/shape though.

worldofdavep
That's a huge zoom range. By DMX? More than I'd normally spend but very attractive
timsabre
That's a huge zoom range. By DMX? More than I'd normally spend but very attractive Yes the zoom is motorised. Pretty impressive for an led fixture. I wonder how well the colours are mixed at the spot end because you quite often get colour fringing when the beam is narrow.
