Alternative parts or supplier for TurboSound LS-8010 drivers

Evening all.

I posted a thread back in March time asking about alternatives to the Turbosound LS-8010 drivers for Turbosound TCS-081C speakers (Impedance 8Ohms, Power 200W RMS 400W Prog):

General consensus then was to go back to the manufacturer and get them from there, which I did and everything worked brilliant. However, the other night some incompetent buffoon blew the speakers again during a party in the centre where they're installed.

This morning we put in another order with the supplier given to us by Turbosound for our order earlier in the year (I can't remember the name; my colleague was responsible for submitting the purchase order both times), but we've been told that the drivers aren't available from them any more.

Can anyone recommend a potential alternative supplier of Turbosound spares, or offer an alternative make/model of driver that would work? The person responsible for the damage will be paying so whilst we're not in a position to go and spend, say £150 per driver, if it's a bit more than the £54 paid last time, that's ok.

Cheers!

Cheers for that, cris - I'll look into it now.

I've had confirmation from Turbosound today that they can no longer supply this driver, so I now need to look into alternative 8" drivers to the same spec. Allowing for the fact that it'll never sound quite the same, can anyone advise me on alternative brands/suppliers to look at? As I've mentioned before, I don't understand speakers well enough to just look at choose from a site, so any pointers would be appreciated.

Regards

The guys linked to in the last post are very good and can generally mend most things including shifted magnets and such. Experience is that they are phenomenally slow turn around at times though so be advised.

Turbosound spares eh. Don't get me started on that one.

Starting point is to phone the people that deal with the manufacturer direct. Pete at Crystal as linked above, LMC, Me - but I will save you a job, I don't have any.

Secondly, find out who manufactured the driver. Turbosound used to use a fair few PD drivers in their boxes but a short number of years ago there was a minor misunderstanding somewhere and this is no longer the case. Many of the drivers will have recone kits available, some however will not. For example the original PD in the TSW218 has no kit available, the driver is manufactured in such a ways that this cannot be done (using normal methods). The later B&C driver in this box has a kit available.

Since take over, parts have become a little difficult though not impossible to source.

It may be an off the shelf driver from a manufacturer that can supply you a replacement or recone kit, or it may be something that was made specifically for Turbosound.

LS8093 I believe has properties that should work for that enclosure and is an overall better driver. It is however more expensive.
