Ryster
I've been trying to figure out how to navigate through the list of effects on the Ion. When I hit [Effect] [Effect] I can view the list of effects. But how do I scroll up and down the list? I can only see the first page, when I use the navigation keys it activates the effects editor window. I don't seem to be able to scroll down the list, so it's really difficult to know which effect I want to use. How do I do this? If I hit the navigation keys do go down through the list of subs, but this doesn't work on the effect page.

Ynot
Next and Last- same way you move up and down most lists in EOS.Actally, most lists you can scroll up/down using the mouse wheel, but for some reason that's not the case in Effects. However, you are of course correct in that Next/Last is the way to go (took me AGES to get round to figuring that one out at first! :) )

But the Effects page doesn't follow the same rules as all the others. That seems to be a running theme with Eos software, the one thing that is consistent throughout is that everything is inconsistent! :-)

[Delete] at the beginning or end of the command line anyone?!
alistermorton
Yes, where delete occurs in a command seems to be a bit inconsistent to say the least.
Simmo
Yes, where delete occurs in a command seems to be a bit inconsistent to say the least. The only place you can use Delete at the end of the command line is in patch. So really only one place! But the Effects page doesn't follow the same rules as all the others. They could make really annoying and make you hit edit to navigate within an effect. In the effect list these keys work within the selected effect. If I needed to hit edit every time I went back into blind effects I'd find that annoying! How about: [Effect] [1] {Step} [4] [Delete] [Enter] [Enter] [Delete] [Part] [1] [Thru] [3] [Enter] [Enter] [Group] [1] [Delete] <Cue> [2] [Enter] [Enter] [Delete] [Group] [3] [Thru] [9] [Enter] [Enter] [Delete] [1] [Enter] [Enter] [Channel List] [Delete] [Preset] [2] [Enter] [Enter] All those example are valid commands, all demonstrate the inconsistent behaviour. Actually, I'd find that far more preferable as that's what you have to do in Blind to edit subs. That would reduce another inconsistent feature too! indyld
Aahhh. This will be this pinnacle of intuitive lighting controls that is regularly reffered to here and elsewhere. In my less generous moments I have been known to refer to the Ion as the "best console for those who have never experienced a more intuitive one". :-)

Apart from the Effect how are these inconsistent? These is following the consistent Eos rules, Channel, Parameter, What, Where/To, Enter. Hitting Edit for effects doesn't scale, fine for small show with small number of channels. Big shows with lots of effects, hitting edit every time you want to make a change would get very boring very quickly.
alistermorton
[Effect] [1] {Step} [4] [Delete] [Enter] [Enter] That was the example I was thinking of in addition to the patch. The rest are consistent, I think. We still have a lot of "Why doesn't [cue] [5] [go] work? Oh, it's [Goto Cue] [5] [Enter]" during plotting :-)
