alexl102
First of all, sorry if this is a bit of a stupid question - I feel like the answer should be obvious but I just want to double check as it's my first time doing a driver swap. I'm replacing the drivers on some Turbosound TCS-081C speakers, using genuine Turbosound replacement parts (the LS - 8010). We have 4 of these speakers (I'm mending two of them at the moment) and on all four, the driver sits the same way round - with the terminals on the back pointing downwards. However, on one of the two I'm mending, I've noticed that the circuit board and wiring inside is fitted a different way round, meaning that when I try and put the new driver in, the terminals on the driver are squashed against the circuit board and the wires connected to the tweeter. So here's the silly question: Is there any reason why I shouldn't simply rotate the driver 90 degrees and fit it that way - or does it have to be that way round? Cheers Alex
sam.spoons
If the wires are long enough and the bolt holes match no, no reason I can think of.
MarkPAman
I know somebody who rotates his drivers (135 degrees clockwise!) every so often, so that "they get pulled by gravity more evenly".Does not seem to do them any harm - though I'm not convinced it does any good, in the real world, either! alexl102
Awesome, cheers! A second, more important question which someone's just mentioned to me is, do I need to run them in? Apparently with some hi-fi speakers you're supposed to place them face-to-face, about 4 inches apart and play music at a low volume over an extended period of time through them. Does that apply to these as well?
Brian
Does that apply to these as well?No (and it doesn't really apply to the hi-fi ones either but that's another story).

BlueShift
You haven't been talking to Russ Andrews have you ???? :P :o  Well. You go rotate drivers all you wan't, but unless you're gonna wire it all with solid Gravity-free Unobtanium cables, you might as well just throw it all in the bin.... :P
