revbobuk
I'm replacing my 'portable' (hollow laugh) kit - Behringer 18" subs, Wharfedale EVP tops, Behringer amp, Thomann wedges - with something my aching muscles and overstretched vehicle can cope with a little better, and I'm going for the Alto TSSUB 15 and the 12" tops. Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent trade supplier they would recommend, or am I going to have to go retail for this?
paulears
Is there such a thing as a trade supplier any longer? CPC, Canford, Studiospares all used to be trade suppliers, but now sell to anyone. If you want to open a trade account with any manufacturer, then your MOQ will be pretty high and tight. We're all consumers now. Buying one PA doesn't make you trade - because every user of a PA would be trade if being in business was the decider. The best you can do is ask for the best price from your selected dealers and take it from there.
Brian
The best you can do is ask for the best price from your selected dealers and take it from there. Not forgetting to ask what warranty they'll give and then evaluating if they'll still be in business in 2 years time if you need to claim.
S&L
I have been looking at the alto subs as a basis for bullding a poor man's HK actor 6 box system. the idea was to pick up a pair of ts sub 15's at a time but the comments on here recently (the sub sounds a bit one note-ish) has me rethinking. however, having done market research, I will pass on that the price doesn't seem to vary much wherever you buy, unless you buy from 'whybuynew' which have their own web site, ebay listings and sell a mix of ex-demo and new gear - I used them for a fast peavey replacement once and they were ok but I doubt they have any idea which end up a speaker is much less any specialist support.blue aran sell them at the same price as everyone else and would probably be my port of call - they have always been first rate with anything I have purchased through them. It would be worth getting to the bottom of another comment made here recently suggesting that blue aran recomend changing the alto speakers for eminence speakers - you could maybe see if blue aran endorse this suggestion - presumably since they are a relatively new product they have been changing them for eminence under warranty - which seems strange to say the least. here are the links to the two recent discussions:http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=60968&st=0&p=496217&hl=alto&fromsearch=1entry496217http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=61077&st=30 sticking with topic the only other advantage in not using blue aran was buying from PMT, as they do personal finance on them. can you come back to us with your findings of both purchase and effectiveness in use? I'm unlikely to start buying before the end of the year but there is precious little independent knowledge about them out there. I like the idea for the price but after the 'sounds one note ish' comment I had started to talk myself out of them and into 2nd hand ASS or new achat. comments on price and more importantly sound in use, would be most welcome. Simon Lewis
I still have some "trade only" accounts.I have to check their prices most times I use them, as the usual online purveyors are often cheaper...
