Trunker
Hi all, sorry if this has been brought up before. Is there a way of controlling single dimmer channels (for focusing/rig checking) via an iPhone direct to the dimmers or is there a way of doing this via a fat frog or bullfrog? I'm sure there may be but don't want to spend money buying the wrong bits or nothing too expensive as it will only be used a few times a year. Thanks in advance.M
timsabre
No. You need another device to make DMX.For example Avolites Titan consoles can be remote controlled using an iphone. But the iPhone itself is just telling the desk what to do. Or you could do it with the Luminair app and an artnet to DMX box.

timsabre
Kinda depends on the DMX desk or computer software, you can only do this with certain desks. Not a fat frog or bullfrog.
timmeh2
Hi If your desk can trigger scenes by MIDI, then you could rig up some sort of wireless midi sender thing. A long time ago I wrote some software that does exactly that, although it runs on Windows, not smart phones. I used it for controlling my Avo Pearl remotely. (going OT this was later re-written to control everything else by emulating the graphics tablet) All the bestTimmeh
richard_cooper
You can use an iOS app like Luminair that outputs ArtNET and the use an ArtNet node like an Enttec ODE to do this direct to dimmers. Would come to around £260. There are cheaper iOS apps, but I've never used them to recommend.
Young Johnstone
Have a second person sat at the console pushing faders for you or take the console to the stage. IMO if you have a console that's not got the ability to have a remote, is it worth splashing out a couple of hundred just for this nice feature. Don't get me wrong, I use it all the time and its great, but only because I can and have the kit to do it.
themadhippy
can you use a keyboard on the frog range for direct accsees,if so forget the phone and buy a wireless keyboard
gyro_gearloose
Another option, assuming your rig consists of generics, is the ELC Focus hand. Not sure how much they cost, so they may be out of your price range.
Trunker
Thanks for your replies, maybe go back to the old way of manual operation on faders. Never mind.......
kgallen
It's not an app 'cos such a thing didn't exist then, but several of us made radio remotes to enable 'I've got no friends' focusing with the original Frog range, using the remote switches. Some details are in this Zero88 forum thread (although the pictures of my own incarnation went missing over the various Zero88 forum upgrades).http://zero88.com/fo...emote-switches/Brian had a fairly 'off the shelf' solution at the time which might suit you more if you're not of the electronics hobbyist type. Mattwearing
Hi, If it is just for focus remote purposes, where you want to call channels up from the stage then my suggestion may be able to help you. I am not explaining how you can control your console..... I work from Hog 3. Maybe how we do it here, could give you an idea. I have a Hog 3 PC as backup console, should the main crash (Grr). This is usefull as the the PC is connected to a wireless network. Like Hog 3, Zero 88 do not offer you a remote app for your console. To get around this, I connect the Hog 3 PC to the show and by using VNC Veiwer, I can now view the PC Hog on my Iphone/Ipad. From the website ''VNC allows you to access and control your desktop applications wherever you are in the world, whenever you need to.'' I have also done a simulart thing with Chamsys where I run Chamsys on my Mac, and use the AirDisplay APP to veiw the console on my iPAD. There is a lag in executions but nether the less usefull when working alone. If you were to download Chamsys to your PC / Laptop, and get the MAGIC DMX Dongle (the 10 pound one) (Or Even Avolites Titian1, and Dongle) However somewhat more expensive, then this is a way you could do it. Switch the relevant DMX cable to your MAC / PC then use the AirDisplay (or something simular) App. Not a perfect answer but maybe it will help! Also - The Chamsys way will only cost you 10 pounds! All the best with it.
