Connect outboard monitor to Fat Frog

I've just acquired a Fat Frog desk, read the manual and forums and everything seems to say there is a VGA monitor output and PS2 keyboard output but I don't seem to have either on my desk, am I missing something or have I just got the oldest desk out there that doesn't have this facility? Sorry but only ever used a Jester and even that had VGA output.

Cheers

The early Fat Frogs had neither a monitor or keyboard port on the back. Get some masking tape and mark what the 24 or 48 channels are for (white tape tends to leave a mark on these desks). If you are theatre, then you need to have the script marked in cue numbers or have the show called by the DSM as you can only [easily] see current and next. If you are live music, then make use of submasters and mark these with masking tape. Don't despair - I lit both musicals and rock concerts with one of these a few years back and the Fat Frog which we currently have at my theatre (which does have the ports) is often used without them (as we converted from a Sirius which didn't have them).

OK thought as much, just assumed it would have VGA output, must be an early one. Will resort to tape but can get quite confusing as I'm using palettes for position, colour, beam etc etc.... Normally use a Pearl so proving a bit of a struggle trying a Fat Frog for the first time.

Is there any upgrade board available?

Thanks for the info.

Is there any upgrade board available?

It might be possible to fit the newer motherboard and modify the case, but no idea how easy this would be (plus you have to find a motherboard somewhere). I would phone Zero 88 in the first instance and see what they say.but I doubt would be economic to do on a 14 year old desk.

I don't normally have any interest in lightning threads but found myself strangely drawn to this one having misread the subject as "Connecting an outboard motor to a fat frog."

Mostly, I am relieved to discover a discussion about a lighting desk.

I have an old Fat Frog just like yours. A few years back I spoke to Zero88 at PLASA about the same thing. There reply was this. The firsts batch of Fat Frogs , 30 IIRC had no VGA port, and there is no upgrade other than a new motherboard. However, I had to change the battery in my Frog recently and on the motherboard is a place to solder a 15 pin D sub connector ?

Just because the connector pads are on the board doesn't mean that the GPU or any of the other circutry is present...

Otherwise Zero 88 would have offered an upgrade to the early users at the time as they couldn't have been terribly pleased by this change? Wouldn't they?
