david.elsbury
Hi thereFor my show, I am using 6 moving-mirror lights that take the ELC 24v 250w lamps. They were purchased second hand, about 9 months ago, all with lamps installed. We purchased 6 extra lamps for blown ones etc. At rig tonight, I noticed some are considerably dimmer than others. So my question, which would be great if you could help me answer it in the next 7 hours before I head back up there again, is: do the lamps fade over time? and should I replace them all, and will this make them all a fairly even brightness? Thanks in advanceDavid :)
spantax
Most likely you have some "longlife" bulbs. They will give you less light, but you get about 500 hours lifetime out of them as opposed to 50 hours. Or you could have some dirty optics in need of a cleaning! Or worst case, your bulbs aren't receiving enough power from the transformer/dimmercircuit. SpantaxLampettGeneralen
Chris Beesley
I have noticed the "white box" lamps can differ in quality - if you purchase the Philips or GE lamps (available now in 500 Hour and 1000 hour) the quality should be much better. david.elsbury
Cool, thanks for that guys. As far as I know the replacement lamps are GE. I figured out that yes, they do fade, as overhead projectors fade over time, and its the same bulbs. So off to change them I go!
