MarkPAman
OK - there's only 4 channels for that price, but even the 24 is 1,000 Euros apparently.... I can see this being useful for some fixed install stuff.
bigclive
That's quite impressive. OK, it means that most people in the audience would have a device that could access it, but I'd guess it's secured with a password. But how are they going to keep their quite sophisticated software secure, since the HTML code is probably very viewable from any browser.

Electrolytic
This will kill SAC offShame SMpro have a worse rep than Behringer. But can we learn to trust them like we did with the X32, will the uMix turn things around.
sleah
Me like.Me want.Me can't justify.Me still want.Me have no tablet or other suitable control.Me can't justify tablet etc.Me still want.Me head going to explode. :** laughs out loud **: Nice big touch screen at mix position, and mePad type thingy to use like riggers remote. Pretty cool!It makes the mixers that NEED an iPad look like a pretty dumb idea......
Pete McCrea
I like the concept - hardware mixer with built in webUI. Be interesting to see how well the WiFi copes once the venue is full of punters. Can think of some fit and forget type uses.
GreatBigHippy
I'm currently looking at a new desk for an installation.... this may fit the bill....
gyro_gearloose
If I were going to use something like this I'd prefer to control it via a piece of good old fashioned Cat5 rather than Wifi. Not sure how I'd get on without any physical faders though. I have controlled lights with a touchscreen PC before and it felt strange not to have the physical sensation of pushing an actual 'Go' button. I have controlled lights with a touchscreen PC before and it felt strange not to have the physical sensation of pushing an actual 'Go' button. It does have a CAT5 option :D I too prefer a wire. In fact, I wounder if it's possible to turn off the on board wireless for situations where it could be a problem? I agree about faders, but I think that in small scale applications such as a couple of hand held mics and music playback, it would be fine. alistermorton
The lack of physical faders would worry me a bit - much harder to so something by touch without taking your eyes off the stage when there isn't anything physical to touch.
STCM_Tech
Would be sweet if they had a wing [like chamsy do for their PC software] then you could have some physical faders as well. Looks like a really cool product and a great price. I will be interested to see how it goes when people start to use it.
Bobbsy
I really, REALLY would hate to do any real mixing on a touch screen. I imagine a control surface could be the next optional extra but I bet to do that with any level of quality a few faders and knobs will cost more than the software. STCM_Tech
Bobbsy I agree that an actual mixer surface is my preference any day, but I have used the X32 iPad app and I find that pretty good. I imagine having a big touch screen to do the main mixing would make things pretty easy. A small control surface, say enough faders to do all subgroups/aux sends, would be enough if you could have any bank of faders on it. f they can produce this units at the price they are suggesting they should be able to produce a wing at a decent price too surely? I had a quick play with their beta sample on the SM Pro website and the one thing I don't like is having to swipe sideways to see more channels, I like to see as much as possible together. Stuart91
I know of several churches that have Presonus desks, they barely touch the actual desk and do everything via tablets or phones. (Musicians mixing their own monitors via the phone app seems popular). It looks like these SM desks could do more or less the same thing, but at vastly reduced cost. Bobbsy
I guess I'm just an old fogey but I hate the lack of tactile response from a touch screen and the need to do things one finger at a time instead of having faders 1 and 2 in one hand the group 3 in the other...or whatever. One finger is for setting up, not mixing. Hmmm...or should I say "one finger is what I give to the concept of touch screen mixing"? I'm not completely a Luddite...I was using wifi to "walk the room" during set up 10+ years ago but mixing? Shudder. Oh, I can see musicians tweaking their monitor feed and things but the main FOH mix? Gimme knobs and faders.
