Radio Mic frequency bands and licensing...

For my next gig I will be mostly doing noise for a panto in Ireland next week - we'll be hiring some Sennheiser UHF radio mics (6 of) and these will more than likely require a site licence. Before I start hassling the venue, I wondered if anyone here would know whether I need to be worried about ensuring a licence is in place for us to use them in our show, and if so, whether the licensing regs are the same as here in the UK?

Strange request, and I may be barking up the wrong tree, but some further guidance other than that already found through Google would be much appreciated...

Cheers,

Chris.

Ring jfmg, they are only actually responsible for the United Kingdom but I would imagine they would be able to help.

Failing that, Hand Held Audio would doubtless be able to answer your question.

And when you find out, post the answer on the forum so we all know the answer next time!

All the best,

Peter

Hmm...

Am now back from the gig and realising that I never did find the answer! Oh well, we did our best. It would appear from the info I've received so far that either Radio Mics are not covered by any type of license, or they don't have theatres or entertainment venues over there. Considering I've just been to two of them, I somehow doubt it!

Even the production manager couldn't find out anything about it! Oh well, the show was a great success and we're all happily moving on to our next jobs
