CallumP93
Hi All, I was wondering if any of you had noticed the following from any of your suppliers. I was on CPCs website today, looking to order some 12v MR16 lamps and holders, but found every time I added them to my basket I had to remove them to continue with my order (even though they showed as in stock). I guessed this was related to the phasing out of non energy efficient lamps, so thought I would log on using works trade account, low and behold I can order the lamps without issue. In addition to this if I go to Screwfix's website, I can order the lamps without an issue so is this just a CPC issue? I was also wondering if anyone else had noticed this whilst attempting to order any form of lamps from other companies (bar CPC and Screwfix)? abbotsmike
I thought that halogen lamps were excluded from this, as they are regarded as more efficient than standard filament lamps? I can certainly still buy them easily enough for domestic use.

Mike, That was my thinking - hence why I was so confused I could buy them on one account and not the other - I thought it was just the older filament lamps that were being phased out for non industrial use. I can get hold of the parts from eBay, but would of preferred to get them from CPC, as I was placing an order for next day delivery. adam2
The energy saving standards do not in general specify a particular type of lamp as being permitted for general use, or restricted. What is specified is a minimum efficiency in lumens per watt, which is being gradualy increased. The older and basic halogen lamps are either non compliant, or soon will be. Improved designs that use an infra red reflective coating or other means to improve efficiency are compliant for now but probably only for a few years. I would advise against installing any new equipment that uses halogen MR16s, and to consider stockpiling lamps for existing equipment.
paulears
I can add them to the basket even if I'm not logged in, maybe the code you are using is one of the special ones only to be used on certain accounts? Care to share the ID so we can try?
CallumP93
Paul, I could add them to the basket, but then get a message that pops up saying they must be removed from the basket to continue! The item order code is: LP02627 - oddly as you say, I can add them without issue when not logged in, and it now seems I can order them from my own account.I wonder if it was just an issue with the website yesterday, or whether someone at CPC noticed my post.Callum
paulears
I don't think CPC bother with us now that Chris B has gone. I used to get a few products to play with, but not any more.
