timsabre
Can you set the mic sensitivity on an SK300 beltpack from the receiver?I've got to run a show for a school tomorrow, and there's a very short set up time for 8 EW300 headset systems. I was there yesterday and the sensitivity is set too high on the transmitter packs, but with students running everywhere there was no opportunity to change the settings. When I got back I looked up Sennheiser's instruction PDF, which is rather vague but seems to suggest you can change the sensitivity from the receiver using the menu option "Advanced Menu->Sync Settings->SK Settings". But it just says "here you can activate/deactivate the transfer of the following transmitter parameters: Sensitivity...". I do not know if this means you can actually set it, or just read it, or what, can anyone tell me? I'll set the packs up before the show, but if my setting turns out to be too low during the show it would be nice to be able to adjust them. Richard P-W
As you mention it is under "sync settings" would this only apply to the IR sync option where you hold the tx pack in front of the receiver to set frequencies?
timsabre
Ah yes, so it is... thought it did it over the radio. Will set it to minimum sensitivity and hope for the best then.
J Pearce
What heads have you got on? I find the cpc/proel headsets safest at -51dB, MKE2s and countrymans at -48dB, and ME2s about -42dB. The Sennheiser's are quite quiet so you can be fairly safe with gain and not end up with buckets of hiss.
timsabre
They are the cheap CPC ones.
J Pearce
I'd go for -51dB then. Unless you have a foghorn of a singer swallowing their mic capsule you shouldn't find you get any clipping set there. The CPC capsules are quite high output and sit very close to the mouth, so will easily clip TXs set up for an ME2 tie clip, which might be the issue you have had. timsabre
Yes, I have not yet managed to find out what they are set to as we got chucked out of the school almost immediately at the end. There are a couple of very shouty kids (it's "Oliver") who are producing square waves.
