Electosonic (Furse?) ES6000 control card

Having finally started to tackle my 'I know it needs doing, but that over there is more important (and interesting)!' pile of equipment I unearthed a collection of Electrosonic ES6000 dimmer racks I inherited a while ago. One is missing the control card. The units are 2' square and 8'' deep, the front panel is made up of 19'' rack panels where the purchaser had the choice of output connectors, the SCRs are mounted behind one etc etc (hopefully this may jog long-forgotten memories). They have a 6 channel control card, I am missing one entire card and would love to hear suggestions as to how find a replacement, also any other spares or comments about them. I am sure I have seen identical units badged as Furse or vice-versa. Thanks for your time, just off to fight a load of Lectriflex!

Electrosonic was taken over by Helvar, huge architectural lighting outfit, some time ago. At one point Helvar also owned Celco, though think Celco back as independent again, or rather currently in the where are they now bracket.

May be worth trying Helvar or some of its distributors to see if anyone has a long memory.

Uhh, if you really want to go there, I have 36 channels of these that are about to go in the skip....

Warning: These racks are not good for your sanity, to say these were not exactly the worlds best dimmer is putting it mildly.

If you do decide to press these into service, uprate the dropper resistor on the card (that feeds the zener diode regulator), it is a perpetual point of faiure. Also, shotguning all the solder joints on the control cards really helps reliability as they suffer from vibration caused by the chokes being mounted directly onto the main PCB...

be VERY careful when trimming these dimmers, the heat sinks are live and you have to get your hands fairly close.

I once remember having to repair one of these racks 3 times in a week (different fault each time)!

If after all that you still want some cards, post your contact details.

Regards, Dan.

Electrosonic are still going - in Dartford. 01322 222211 and ask for the service department. Give them the PCB number and see what they say. They may still have some around.

Hi, I am getting rid of some old Electrosonic bits and hate to chuck them in the skip if someone can use them. Free to a good home PC1370 PCB in good condition, from an Electrosonic 6 chan dimmer - I think they were called "Flatapack" dimmers. If you don't want it, maybe you know someone who does? Also Sceneset - 32 chan controller, 0-10v o/p, controlled by button wall plates. Buttons programmable, 128 scenes, any fade time, scenes can be linked with programmable delay times. Excellent for "flame effect" flicker - just prog fade up time of zero, fade down of zero, link next scene zero, link prev scene zero, and it goes ape in a very good way! But will step out of loop when button pressed.
