DrV Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Hi , at our local theater the desk keeps cutting out ( zero88fatfrog). I have a suspicion that it is the power supply ? Has anyone else had this? Thanks JamesI've seen a couple of different problems on Fat Frog PSUs. One was a fault in the PSU itself but I've had a couple where the voltage drop through the cable/connectors was sufficient to cause the desk to crash. The voltage drop problem can be addressed by cleaning the connectors with switch cleaner and then applying a quick squirt of Electrolube SGB contact grease. The root cause in these cases was that the PSU set voltage was exactly 5 volts and once you've dropped a couple of hundred millivolts here and there across cables and connector pins it is running too close to the 4.75V lower limit for the logic. If it is really bad (and the only way to find out is to open the desk and measure the 5volts on the PCB) you could replace the connectors with some nice shiny new (trik!) ones.Dave
