Edible Blood....

Hi all,

 

Am putting together ideas for a production of Dracula, and am looking for ideas for edible blood. The cast have to be able to be seen licking it from arms etc so I would rather use something more "consumable" than the 'non-toxic' versions of blood capsules etc. Any ideas?

It may taste a bit funky, the stuff I have made did. But both food grade items, add some peppermint or some flavour and will be ok.

Tomato ketchup!

Ribena concentrate with thickener.

Food colouring, water and cornflour. Won't taste great but it's perfectly safe.

I'd also be thinking about the risks of exchanging body fluids if there's a lot of licking going on.

 

I do like the idea of peppermint flavoured blood though. I must try some of that. When the Sun goes down, of course.

Ben Nye used to do the stuff you filled mouth capsules with that were described as "Zesty Mint Flavour".

That's the stuff, I remember using that in a production of Sweeney Todd. I was 3rd pie eater to the right, and we had apple pies injected full of minty fake blood. We had to make it dribble down our chins. Very school drama.
