Owain Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Canford Thomann RS Rapid Cybermarket Maplin Henrys Ebay Local disco shop From where does your theatre usually buy sound things?
timtheenchanteruk Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 100W, are you sure? that seems mighty low for a theatre in this day and age.Even the small practice all in one system I use for rehearsals is 150W budget, what are the speakers, and we might be able to give a more informed suggestion. a 1000W amp can be had from £150 upwards (the skys almost the limit here)
Bobbsy Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Since I suspect from your question that budget is going to be any issue, I'd suggest THOMANN as probably the best place to get something cheap but adequate. Their t.amp series is good value for money. However, before you just dash out and buy something, I suggest you need a think about exactly what you need. As others have said, 100W is pretty low in a theatre setting (heck, a lot of home hifi can do that) and you also didn't mention the impedance rating of your speakers. A hundred watts at 4 ohms is different from a hundred watts at 8 ohms and so on. Similarly, are you talking RMS, Continuous, Peak or whatever for the hundred watts? If you don't have the skills to sort this out for yourself, I'm sure we can answer some questions for you.
