Vectorworks additional symbols

Hi All,

just wondering what libraries people have got for additional fixtures in Vectorworks? a friend of mine from sydney once told me of one he purchased for about (Aud)$150 that was pretty comprehensive, I know a lot of manufacturers have them on their websites, but was wondering if anyone had purchased any; if so how was it, did you get updates later on, was it worth the money?

links would be appreciated. no need to keep to specific to purchased symbols, if you have a cache of generic ones you found somewhere I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks

Fatty.

I second that question - the supplied library is a bit lacking. I did once find a good library from someone on here which had all the old strand stuff in it, however it had been made with the educational version so would watermark every drawing I used them on, so I didn't!

Martin supply Vectorworks symbols for some of their fixtures.

I also found this set useful:

I have also made up my own symbols using .dwg files available online; however this takes alot of work and time to build up a good library.

In discussing this particular question, one can't ignore Steve Shelley's Soft Symbols which one might guess that is possible the paid solution mentioned above. Many people only use a few lantern types and it doesn't take much to edit another symbol and save it in your own library. The thing about some libraries and updates (Wyg etc.) is that you pay for every fixture of hundreds that you don't need. At least with Field Template's you can buy them in manufacturer batches or use the USITT version.

I'll second on SoftSymbols.

Great collections that I use frequently, and well worth the money for all of the stoopid questions I throw at Steve about assorted VWX issues of my own creation!

Cheers
