gordontech Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 First time I have used my TitanOne for LED fixtures not simply dimmers and I have run in to an interesting problem with the fixtures. Tests completed LED fixtures tested and work fine, both sending and receiving DMX DMX on each channel is outputting correctly from the laptop When I use the fixture files there is still DMX being sent out but the RGBA will not work only the colour macro channel (this in terms of actual light output from the unit). I have tested the DMX lines and there is DMX being outputted on the correct channel. If I patch the same channels as dimmers the full RGBA spectrum will work fine. I have tested this with more then one unit at a time and one at a time. Any ideas people?
niclights Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 This will be a problem with the personality. What is the fixture?
gordontech Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 Problem with the personality and a lack of sleep meaning my head wouldn't allow it. The interesting twist is that it works fine on my expert but not in my T1. The personalities are different
niclights Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Well that might suggest that the T1 library isn't up-to-date, or there was a recent update that broke it on the T1 or the one on the Expert had been customised. Note that personalities are stored in showfiles and so if you saved a working one from the Expert and loaded it into T1 is should work. I cannot help further without details about the fixture.
gordontech Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 T1 library is new. I know, its not a problem as now I have had time to adjust the fixture file.
niclights Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Well, it would still be helpful for others if you could explain what the fixture is, what the cause of the problem was and what you changed to fix it. Not only for someone else with a similar issue that might read this but also so it can be fixed in the Titan library if necessary. Even better you could enter the bug report on the Avo site if not already ;)
Bombhead Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I had issues in the past with newer versions of Titan having fixture profiles that were incorrect even though on the older version they were fine!
niclights Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 The only way for things like this get fixed is for them to be reported, preferably via the established bug reports section in the website. In my experience of writing personalities the manufacturers manuals leave a lot to be desired and are often plain wrong, if they exist at all. That's why feedback is so important. And in some situations it may be due to a change in the software, rather than the personality.
