Just checking out the DMX output of a sirius 48.

No output on channels 25 to 48

Analogue outputs on these channels seems OK

Suggestions?

Thanks

It's probably going to be the IPL cables - because the Sirius 48 uses two processor cards, the DMX IF has to talk to each processor so the processor IPL is looped through the I/F. Check the molex connections on the IPL cable and make sure the cables are pushed firmly home in the IDC jaws and also that they're both on the same way (the IPL is polarity conscious).

If channels 25-48 aren't working it would suggest the issue is with the slave processor board (the one with some components missing), so start looking around there.

I would have said IPL too, but from experience I'm fairly sure one processor board does ch 13-36 and the other does 1-12 and 37-48. Also is usually says "IPL FAILED" on one of the displays. I remember only the middle of the desk working when it did that. A quick look at where the ribbons from the faders go will confirm, but I think the sirius 48 is basically a sirius 24 with an extra 12 channels stuck on each end.

Might also be worth checking the jumper at position 1 on the DMX board.

I can't remember if it defaults to Sirius 24 or 48 if the jumper is missing.

I also can't remember the symptoms of configuring the DMX board with the wrong jumper position, but only allowing 24 channels seems plausible.

There's a diagram of the jumper positions in the Sirius 24/48 upgrade guide PDF, which is easy to google for.

PM me if you can't find a copy.

Will get the back open again and have a look!

In normal use - yes you're correct, the slave processor handles the outside 12 channel faders on each end of the desk. However, something in my memory says that because the DMX I/F could be used in a 24 or 48 it handles the blocks of channels differently. If we get really stuck, we could bribe Keith with some chocolate for the definitive answer :P

As a couple of the post alude to the cards were used in both the 24 and 48 desk there is a jumper that needs to be set to tell it which desk it is in. Have a look below.
