Mackieram Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Hello All, Can anyone tell me who holds rental stock of 4k Projectors and can advise me on formats and playout options for 4k content? Thanks.
ferretwrangler Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Id suggest you called Jim at A to V in Manchester.
Pete McCrea Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Generally if someone just states '4k' we'd take it to be 4K Resolution.
MarkPAman Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Generally if someone just states '4k' we'd take it to be 4K Resolution. That's something I've learned today then. Thanks.
Pete McCrea Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Every day's a school day :-) A year ago I'd have probably asked the same question, but working above HD is now becoming more prevalent and possible. Christie and Barco are pushing the resolutions and brightnesses available in the rental market to make 2K and 4K achieve able.
AHYoung Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 If you have specific 4k needs, go to a screening facility or cinema that's equipped. Renting the whole lot in id going to cost a whole load more and wont get close to somewhere that's ready to go. If you want a "small" machine BSC have got the jvcs which are effectively hot-rodded home cinema units. playing back 4k is another caper, you can configure a media server to play back as long as its got dual link outputs, but again, a cinema or screening room that's got it all inhouse is the easy option...
lite_lad Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Playback will be fine from catalyst as long as you get a well specced machine! projector wise try PRG?
J Pearce Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I'd be surprised if XL Video weren't able to help you.
gyro_gearloose Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I must say that I was slightly annoyed when I discovered that 2K referred to the number of columns of pixels and not the number of rows. Seems a bit of a con when TVs these days are specced in terms of how many rows of pixels they can display (720p, 1080i, 1080p). A 1080p TV has a resolution only slightly lower than that of a 2K projector.
