RichM Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 A noise boy needs help :D I've acquired a cheap and cheerful disco light, which claims to be a "Source Samurai Version 2", but it has no bulb in it. Does anyone know what I need to buy to get it working? Google isn't being very helpful :( It looks like this if it's any help: http://I.ebayimg.com/00/s/NzY4WDEwMjQ=/$(KGrHqRHJEcFEKzI)iDhBRHlbNZTr!~~48_79.JPG Thanks in advance :)
johnhuson Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 If you are able to post a picture of the lamp holder that would make suggestions easier, although an A1/259 is a pretty good chance (an A1/223 is also quite likely) it's impossible to say with any certainty without at least seeing the lamp holder.
bigclive Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Is there a label on the case that tells you the power rating of the whole fixture? It will be close to the lamp rating. Guessing that the lamp is a typical 24V 250W one is a stab in the dark and could damage a light intended for a lower wattage lamp.
Jivemaster Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Lamps "like" that can easily use 12 or 24 volt lamps and may use a capsule or 50mm dichroic reflector lamp and could be from 75 to 250 watts. Too many choices to make a sensible guess.
RichM Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 I'll try and take a pic or two when I've got a moment :)
mrboo Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 looking on ebay someone posted 250w 24v ELC Lamp Zoom/Source used them a lot in there units
johnhuson Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 looking on ebay someone posted 250w 24v ELC Lamp Zoom/Source used them a lot in there units FYI That's an A1/259 as used extensively in this type of unit.
bigclive Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Now, can we tempt you into looking at a modern LED fixture that doesn't get hot enough to fry a breakfast on?
RichM Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Now, can we tempt you into looking at a modern LED fixture that doesn't get hot enough to fry a breakfast on? Yep, as long as it costs me what this one did, ie nothing :D
Jivemaster Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Info from a DJ friend is that the light takes a ELC A1/259 24v 250w The normal ones of these lamps have a rated life of 35 hours -less if transported in a car or van. the longer life lamps are worth the money, use any "low brightness economy" setting.
RichM Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Cheers all for the help, I can go back to making things louder now :D

Osram do a 2000 hours version. Worth the money. Wouldn't consider a low hours lamp. Really not worth it.
